Sea Scouting is a maritime program for boys and girls ages 14-20 providing a fun, safe environment for Scouts to learn, build friendships, and develop character while earning advancement; in, around, or underwater.

What Will I Do in Sea Scouts?

Sea Scouts—organized into units called ships—recognizes Scouts for activities they learn and do, including paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and even SCUBA. Scouts earn certifications in SCUBA, boating safety, lifesaving, CPR—credentials that mark their growth as sailors and leaders throughout their time in the program.

Elected youth officers plan and conduct the program under the guidance of adult advisors. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotillas can be the chartering organizations interested in sponsoring and actively training the youth under the AUXSCOUT program.

When you enroll in Sea Scouts Ship 339 in Lighthouse Point a world of nautical opportunities will be available to you. Not only at the recreational level but also career-wise. The relationship between Sea Scouts and the Coast Guard Auxiliary can lead to multiple paths into the service.
Other training organization also consider favorably the Sea Scouts as a career path.

Sea Scouts is a program of the Boy Scouts of America that was founded in 1912. It is open to young people ages 14 to 21 who are interested in learning about boating and the maritime environment. Sea Scouts participate in a variety of activities, including sailing, rowing, kayaking, and powerboating. They also learn about marine science, navigation, seamanship, and leadership. Sea Scouts may have the opportunity to participate in local and national events, such as regattas and sail training cruises.

We are the Sea Scout Ship 339 “The Osprey” from the South Florida Squadron. The Sea Scouts is a co-ed adventure branch of the Boy Scouts of America for youth ages 14 to 20 years. We organize dives, sailing events, learn seamanship and actively participate in our community.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that supports the U.S. Coast Guard in a variety of missions. It was founded in 1939 as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, and it was renamed the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1941. The Auxiliary is made up of men and women who are interested in supporting the Coast Guard and promoting boating safety. Members of the Auxiliary may participate in a variety of activities, such as conducting vessel safety checks, teaching boating safety courses, and assisting with search and rescue missions. They may also assist with marine safety patrols, environmental protection efforts, and other Coast Guard missions.
